Hazaribagh, Aug. 4: Hazaribagh district has stepped up preparations for the 79th Independence Day celebrations, with Deputy Commissioner Hemant Sati on Tuesday chairing a district-level review meeting to finalise arrangements for the national event, including the parade, flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes and sports activities.

The meeting, held at the Collectorate, resolved to organise the celebrations in a grand manner, with the main flag-hoisting ceremony scheduled to take place at Curzon Ground at 9:05 a.m.

According to the finalised programme, the Deputy Commissioner will first hoist the National Flag at the DC Residence at 8:15 a.m., followed by ceremonies at the Commissioner’s Office (9:50 a.m.), Deputy Commissioner’s Office (10:05 a.m.), Home Guard Training Centre, Sindoor (10:25 a.m.), Red Cross Society (10:50 a.m.) and Police Line (11:00 a.m.).

Officials said the ceremonial parade at Curzon Ground will feature platoons from the Jharkhand District Police Force, BSF Meru, Home Guard, NCC (Senior Wing Girls and Senior Division Boys), JRF and JAP-7 Scouts. The parade will be led by the BSF Meru Camp band, while the Sergeant Major will present the salute to the National Flag.

A full-dress rehearsal of the parade will be conducted on the eve of Independence Day to ensure smooth execution of the programme.

As part of the celebrations, a friendly cricket match between Media XI and Administration XI has also been scheduled.

During the review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to complete cleaning, painting and other beautification works at Curzon Ground well before the celebrations. Block development officials were also instructed to organise flag-hoisting ceremonies at all block offices and panchayat secretariats with active participation of local panchayat representatives.

The Health Department was directed to keep ambulances and emergency medical services on standby during the parade rehearsal as well as on Independence Day to ensure prompt response to any medical exigency.

The Deputy Commissioner issued necessary instructions to all concerned departments, emphasising coordinated efforts to ensure the smooth, safe and successful conduct of the district’s Independence Day celebrations.

As no official statement was issued during the meeting, no direct quotes were available.
