Ranchi, Dec 3: Cold conditions are set to worsen across Jharkhand with minimum temperatures expected to fall in the next 24 hours.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in the state capital has warned that icy winds and a sudden temperature drop will make the weather significantly colder.
Ranchi IMD Deputy Director and weather scientist Abhishek Anand said that the cloud cover will clear completely today and the sky will remain bright. However, cold winds will keep the chill intense. With the clouds disappearing, the minimum temperature may drop by 4–5°C, bringing nearly 10 districts close to 8°C.

Meanwhile, a cold-wave alert has been issued for Ranchi, Khunti, Latehar, Lohardaga, Palamu, Gumla, Garhwa, Hazaribagh and Koderma, where the minimum temperature is expected to dip to 7–8°C. This marks a sharp fall of nearly 6 degrees from the previous 24 hours.
Moreover, the IMD Ranchi has also advised residents to step out only in warm clothing. It has recommended avoiding early morning outdoor movement before 7 AM, as dense fog and strong cold winds are expected and a fresh spell of cold winds is also expected after evening 6 PM.
Earlier in the past 24 hours, Khunti district recorded 1 mm rainfall. Light sunshine brought little relief and it also reported the lowest minimum temperature of 9.4°C. Meanwhile, several other districts in the state also remained partly cloudy.
