Jamshedpur, September 13: Police have cracked the sensational case of looting ₹30 lakh from businessman Saket Agiwal of Gurudwara Basti, Bistupur. So far, four accused have been arrested while two others are still absconding.

As per police, mastermind Kamlesh Dubey of Kadma tracked businessman Saket Agiwal and kept informing his associate Rakesh Mandal alias Pakodi. Acting on his updates, Rakesh, Pankaj Kumar, driver Ganesh Kumbhakar and another aide waited in an Innova near Bistupur Gurudwara, where they attacked Agiwal by throwing chilli powder in his eyes and fled with the cash.

After the crime, the gang went to Noamundi, where Sudhir Narayan Behera arranged fake SIM cards for them. The looted money was divided at his place before the group dispersed in different locations. Ganesh returned home with the Innova and weapons, while others fled to different states.

The police got their first breakthrough when CCTV footage revealed the involvement of the Innova car. Acting swiftly, they arrested Ganesh Kumbhakar and recovered the vehicle, weapons and part of the looted money from his house. On the basis of his information, the police later arrested Kamlesh Dubey and Sudhir Behera, and finally tracked down Rakesh Mandal alias Pakodi in Amritsar, Punjab.

SSP Piyush Pandey, while briefing the media, confirmed that four men — Rakesh Mandal alias Pakodi, Kamlesh Dubey, Sudhir Narayan Behera and Ganesh Kumbhakar — have been arrested. A country-made pistol, the Innova car, four mobile phones and ₹10.69 lakh of the looted amount have been recovered.

He further said that Kamlesh Dubey was the key conspirator and had executed the plan through Rakesh alias Pakodi, who even fired in the air after the robbery to spread panic.

However, two other accused Karan Kumar of Adityapur and Pankaj Kumar of Sonari are still absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to nab them at the earliest.
