Ranchi, Aug 26: Monsoon activity has intensified again in Jharkhand, with several parts of the state likely to witness cloudy skies, light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms over the next three days, the weather office said.
According to the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, isolated areas may receive heavy rainfall during the period from August 26 to 28. Strong winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph are also likely in some areas during thunderstorms.
On August 26, most parts of Jharkhand are expected to remain cloudy, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers at several places. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in parts of southern and western Jharkhand, particularly Simdega and West Singhbhum. Some areas of Gumla and Khunti may also receive heavy rain.
On August 27, rainfall activity is expected to continue, with thunderstorms and light to moderate showers at several places. Heavy rainfall is likely mainly in central, north-western and north-eastern parts of the state. Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Bokaro and Dhanbad may receive heavy rain at isolated places, while parts of Chatra and Giridih may also witness heavy showers.
On August 28, cloudy conditions and light to moderate rainfall are expected to continue across several areas. Heavy rainfall is likely mainly over southern Jharkhand, with Simdega, West Singhbhum and parts of Gumla likely to be affected.
Hazaribagh records highest rainfall
During the past 24 hours, Hazaribagh recorded the highest rainfall at 43.4 mm, followed by 40.8 mm at Panchet DVC in Dhanbad. Rainfall activity was more pronounced in northern and central parts of the state.
Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, Chaibasa, Bokaro and Ranchi also received rainfall during the period.
Temperatures across major cities
Baharagora recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35°C, while Latehar recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 21.8°C.
Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 28.6°C, 1.4 degrees below normal, while its minimum temperature stood at 23°C, 0.6 degrees above normal.
Jamshedpur recorded a maximum of 31.6°C and a minimum of 26.8°C. Daltonganj recorded 30.2°C and 26°C, respectively.
Bokaro recorded a maximum temperature of 32.1°C, while Chaibasa recorded 31.8°C. The weather office has advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds.
