Ranchi, Sept 16 : Jharkhand is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over the next four days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
According to the latest weather bulletin, the conditions are expected to prevail across the state from September 17 to 20, with wind speeds reaching up to 40 kmph at isolated places.
The meteorological department has issued an alert for isolated thunderstorms and lightning in 24 districts on September 17. The districts include Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Godda, Pakur and Sahibganj.
Thunder and lightning activity is also likely at isolated places across Jharkhand from September 18 to 20, the IMD said.
The weather office forecast no significant change in maximum temperatures during the next five days.
Meanwhile, several parts of the state recorded rainfall during the past 24 hours. Jama in Dumka district received the highest rainfall of 65 mm during the period, according to the IMD.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms and lightning activity, particularly in exposed and open areas.
The weather conditions are expected to remain influenced by the prevailing atmospheric systems over the region, the IMD said.
