Ranchi, Aug 30 : Jharkhand is likely to witness another spell of rainfall on Monday and Tuesday due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, according to the weather department. The system is expected to move towards northern Odisha through the coastal areas of West Bengal over the next 24 hours.
Under its influence, several parts of Jharkhand are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, with a heavy rain warning issued for parts of southern and northwestern districts. Weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled in the state during the next two days.
Heavy rain likely in several districts
According to the forecast, West Singhbhum, Simdega and Saraikela-Kharsawan are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Monday. On Tuesday, heavy rain is expected in Ranchi, Palamu, Garhwa, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga and Chatra.
The impact of the weather system is expected to be comparatively lower in Santhal Pargana, along with Hazaribagh, Koderma, Giridih, Bokaro and Dhanbad.
Several areas already received heavy rainJharkhand recorded significant rainfall between Saturday and Sunday. Mahuadand in Latehar recorded the highest rainfall at 138 mm.
West Singhbhum received 72 mm, while Chatra recorded 57 mm and East Singhbhum 48.2 mm. Jamtara recorded 45.6 mm, Dumka 40.3 mm, Dhanbad 39 mm and Ranchi 30.2 mm of rainfall. Rainfall was also reported from several other parts of the state, including Gumla and Bokaro.
With another spell of rain forecast, residents in areas likely to receive heavy showers are advised to remain alert and follow the latest updates issued by the weather department.
