Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar stresses link between environment, health and lifestyle

Dhanbad, Sep 20: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Sunday underlined the close relationship between environmental protection, public health and lifestyle, saying a balanced approach towards nature is increasingly important amid growing environmental challenges.

Addressing a national environmental workshop organised by Arogya Bharati in collaboration with IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, Gangwar said Indian traditions have long emphasised respect for nature and coexistence with the environment.He said challenges such as climate change, air pollution and biodiversity loss require collective efforts from the government, educational institutions, scientists, medical professionals, industries and citizens.

The governor emphasised that simple measures such as conserving water and energy and adopting environmentally responsible habits can make a meaningful contribution to environmental protection.

Linking healthy living with environmental conservation, Gangwar highlighted the role of yoga in maintaining physical health, mental balance and overall well-being.He also stressed the need to focus on preventive healthcare alongside treatment.

According to him, healthy lifestyles, balanced nutrition, yoga and a clean environment should form an important part of efforts towards better health.

Gangwar said bringing different systems of medicine and health-related approaches together could help promote a more comprehensive approach to healthcare. He also noted the relevance of Arogya Bharati’s work in this regard.

Highlighting the role of institutions such as IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, the governor said scientific research and technological innovation could help develop practical and sustainable solutions to environmental problems.

He called for greater research and innovation in areas including water conservation, clean energy, waste management, pollution control and environmentally friendly technologies.

The governor also urged students and young people to make environmental protection part of their everyday lives and encourage their families and communities to adopt sustainable practices.
