Patna, July 29: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday extended public support to Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor ahead of the Bankipur Assembly by-election, describing him as a popular people’s leader and a “hero” of the younger generation.
In a post on X, Sinha shared a photograph with Kishor and appealed to voters to support him in the upcoming election.
Referring to the need for capable people to participate in public life, the veteran actor-politician said that Prashant Kishor represented a new political voice and had emerged as a prominent figure among young people.
Sinha said Kishor appeared to be an important face for Bihar and expressed the view that his electoral success would benefit the state’s future generations.
“Support PK. Vote for PK. Jai Bihar, Jai Hind,” Sinha said in his post.
The endorsement is being viewed as significant as Sinha is a senior political leader and a TMC member of Parliament from Asansol in West Bengal.
Despite belonging to a different political party, he has openly appealed to voters in Bihar to back Kishor.
Prashant Kishor, who founded the Jan Suraaj Party after working as a political strategist, is contesting the Bankipur by-election. Sinha has praised Kishor on several occasions in the past, and his latest statement is expected to draw attention to the Jan Suraaj candidate’s campaign, particularly among younger voters.
The Bankipur Assembly by-election is scheduled to be held on July 30. A total of 25 candidates are in the fray, and security arrangements have been strengthened for polling.
Sinha’s support has added a fresh political dimension to the contest, with the endorsement likely to feature prominently in the final phase of campaigning.
