New Delhi, Aug 13 : The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections will be held on September 18, with counting of votes scheduled for the following day, according to a notification issued by the university on Thursday.
The last date for filing nomination papers has been fixed for September 10, the notification signed by the DU Registrar said.
Candidates can submit their nomination papers along with a demand draft of ₹500 and the required affidavits by 3 p.m. on September 10. Scrutiny of the papers will be conducted at 3:15 p.m., followed by publication of the list of duly nominated candidates at 6 p.m.
Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until noon on September 11. The final list of candidates will be published by 5 p.m. the same day.
Polling for the DUSU elections will be conducted on September 18. Students attending day classes will vote from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., while those attending evening classes will cast their votes between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Counting of votes will take place on September 19.
Nomination papers for DUSU office-bearers will have to be submitted at the office of the Chief Election Officer at the Conference Centre, opposite the Botany Department in North Campus.
Nomination papers for members of the DUSU Central Council will be available from the respective colleges, departments and institutions. The university said all nomination forms can also be downloaded from its official website.
The elections will be conducted in accordance with the DUSU Code of Conduct and the union’s Constitution, as well as relevant court directions, including the Supreme Court’s recommendations based on the Lyngdoh Committee report and subsequent orders of the Delhi High Court and the National Green Tribunal.
