MANGALURU, India, April 8 – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] will hold a protest at Deralakatte Junction on April 29, demanding comprehensive development of Ullal Taluk in Karnataka, party leaders said on Monday.
At a preparatory meeting held in Munnur, CPI(M) State committee member K. Yadava Shetty said that despite Ullal being declared a taluk five years ago, it continues to suffer from a lack of basic infrastructure. “The government has failed to provide even essential facilities in Ullal. The situation remains unchanged despite repeated appeals,” Shetty said.
Sunil Kumar Bajal, CPI(M)’s Ullal zonal secretary, added that the region still does not have a functioning taluk office, and the government has yet to allocate land to the landless poor. The protest aims to highlight these long-pending issues and press the state government for urgent action, the party said
