Chandigarh, Dec 23: Cold conditions continued across Punjab and Haryana on Monday, though night temperatures in many areas stayed slightly above the seasonal average, according to the local weather office.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 9.7 degrees Celsius, which was six degrees higher than normal. Ludhiana saw a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius, marginally above average, while Patiala registered 9.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees higher than usual. Pathankot recorded a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius. Bathinda, Faridkot and Gurdaspur reported lows of 9.8, 8.8 and 7.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Chandigarh, the shared capital of the two states, recorded a minimum temperature of 8.3 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 10 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the seasonal average. Hisar and Karnal reported minimum temperatures of 8.9 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively. Other parts of the state also experienced cold weather, with Narnaul recording 6 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 10 degrees Celsius, Bhiwani 7 degrees Celsius and Sirsa 9.6 degrees Celsius.
Overall, while cold weather persisted in both Punjab and Haryana, minimum temperatures during the night remained a little higher than what is usually seen at this time of the year.
