Patna, July 28: A 34-year-old man was found dead under unexplained circumstances at Miller Ground near the Janata Dal (United) office in Patna on Tuesday morning, prompting a police investigation into the cause of his death.The deceased was identified as Sunny Kumar.
Police said they received information about an unconscious man lying inside the ground in the early hours of the day. A team from Kotwali police station reached the spot, secured the area and called forensic experts to examine the scene.The body was later shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for a postmortem examination.
Officials said the medical and forensic reports would be crucial in determining the exact cause of death.According to the preliminary investigation, Sunny Kumar was found wearing a shirt, trousers and a helmet. Police also noticed that he had metal rods implanted in both legs, indicating a previous medical condition or injury.
A bag was recovered from the spot, but no motorcycle was found nearby. Blood stains were visible around his nose, while froth was observed near his mouth.Police said the presence of froth has led investigators to consider the possibility of substance consumption as one of several angles being examined.
However, officers stressed that no conclusion has been reached and that the cause of death will only be established after the postmortem and forensic analysis.Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations, analysing technical evidence, including mobile phone records, and attempting to trace the deceased’s movements before the incident.
Statements from family members are also expected to be recorded as part of the investigation.Police said all possible aspects of the case, including accidental death, medical causes and any potential criminal involvement, are being examined.
Further action will depend on the findings of the forensic and postmortem reports.
