Ranchi, July 7: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation, led by Rajya Sabha MP and Jharkhand BJP president Aditya Sahu and Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, on Monday met Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Lok Bhavan and submitted a memorandum seeking a CBI investigation into the Himanshu Singh murder case.
The delegation described the incident, which occurred in the Adityapur area of Jamshedpur, as a matter of grave concern and urged that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure a fair, transparent and high-level probe.
According to the memorandum, Himanshu Singh was murdered on June 27 in Adityapur while police personnel were present at the scene.
The BJP leaders said the incident has raised serious questions over the state’s law-and-order situation and the functioning of the police administration.
The delegation alleged that the ongoing investigation is not being conducted impartially and claimed that attempts are being made to divert attention from the actual facts of the case.
It also demanded an independent inquiry into the role of the police personnel who were present during the incident.
Urging the Governor to intervene, the delegation requested that necessary steps be taken to ensure a fair and transparent investigation so that justice is delivered to the victim’s family.
It further sought appropriate legal action against those found responsible for the crime as well as against any officials or police personnel found to have been negligent in the discharge of their duties.
