Jamshedpur, October 15: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Jamshedpur Branch Office on Tuesday celebrated World Standards Day 2025 at Hotel Ramada, Bistupur, highlighting the theme “Shared Vision for a Better World – Spotlight on SDG 17: Partnership for Goals.” The event underscored the role of collaboration in advancing global sustainability and innovation through standardization.
The celebration brought together government officials, industry leaders, academicians, and students to recognize the contributions of standards in shaping a safer and more connected world.
Opening the event, Kunal Kumar, Director and Head of BIS Jamshedpur, welcomed participants and emphasized that World Standards Day honors experts and organizations dedicated to developing standards that enhance quality and sustainability. He noted that the theme reflects the importance of joint efforts among governments, industries, academia, and citizens in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Purnima Sahu, MLA of Jamshedpur East, attended as the chief guest and delivered the presidential address. She highlighted the importance of standards in ensuring safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility, while commending BIS for its contribution to national development and consumer protection.
Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, served as the special guest, stressing the need for synergy between academia, industry, and standardization bodies to drive innovation and sustainable growth.
Other speakers included Gadadhar Sahoo, DGM of RCL Bokaro Steel Plant (SAIL); Avneet Kumar Joshi, Director of CIPET Ranchi; Anjan Kundu, Chief Vigilance Officer at MSME Technology Centre, Jamshedpur; and Rajeev Kumar Jain, Plant Head of Shree Jharkhand Cement Plant.
The program also featured a cultural performance by students from Standards Clubs and a felicitation ceremony recognizing quiz winners, mentors, and representatives from laboratories and industries for their contributions.
A technical session followed, featuring expert presentations by Ambika Joshi (CIPET Ranchi), Anjan Kundu (MSME Technology Centre), Ankur Vishwakarma (Shree Jharkhand Cement Plant), and Prabhu Nath Yadav, Director of BIS Jamshedpur.
Concluding the event, Dillip Chattar, Joint Director of BIS Jamshedpur, delivered a vote of thanks, acknowledging the participation of dignitaries and stakeholders.
The celebration reaffirmed BIS’s commitment to fostering quality, innovation, and sustainability through standards — vital elements for building partnerships toward a better and more sustainable future.
