Patna, Dec 23: Bankipur MLA and newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national working president Nitin Nabin was given a spectacular welcome in Patna on Tuesday during his first visit to his home state since assuming office last week.

Nabin arrived at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport from Bihar Bhawan in Delhi for a two-day tour of the state capital. The airport witnessed a colorful and unusual reception, with elephants, camels, and horses lined up to greet him. Outside the terminal, women dancers performed to the popular song “Jodi Modi-Nitish Hit Ho Gail,” drawing a festive crowd. The celebrations led to a traffic jam stretching over a kilometre in the surrounding area.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi, Mr. Nabin led a six-kilometre roadshow through the city. The procession began from Aranya Bhawan near the airport and is set to culminate at Miller High School grounds near the State BJP office on Birchand Patel Marg.

Standing atop a vehicle decorated with flowers and cut-outs of the party’s poll symbol, the lotus, Nabin waved at thousands of supporters lining both sides of the road. People showered flower petals on his cavalcade while chanting slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

“Posters and hoardings have been put up, and several stages erected along the route for cultural programmes,” said Bihar BJP spokesperson Niraj Kumar. The roadshow will pass through key areas including Sheikhpura More, Hanuman Mandir in Rajbanshi Nagar, and the Income Tax roundabout.

The event also marks a significant political milestone for Nitin Nabin, the fifth-term MLA from Bankipur Assembly seat and former State unit chief of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, who has previously held charge as the party’s in-charge for Chhattisgarh. He was appointed BJP national working president on December 14, 2025.

According to party sources, Mr. Nabin is expected to meet Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at Raj Bhavan later in the evening, followed by interactions with party MPs, MLAs, members of the legislative council, and other leaders at the State BJP headquarters.

Nitin Nabin, son of veteran BJP leader Navin Kishore Sinha, began his political journey in 2006, winning a by-election triggered by his father’s demise. Known for his strong hold in the urban Bankipur constituency, he recently retained his seat in the State Assembly polls by a margin of around 52,000 votes.
