Patna, Aug 15: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday hoisted the national flag at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna for the first time as Chief Minister on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. After the flag-hoisting ceremony, he inspected the parade and addressed the people of the state, outlining the government’s priorities for development, employment, investment, industries, women’s safety and good governance.
Elaborate security arrangements were made at Gandhi Maidan for the state-level Independence Day celebrations. Around 1,500 security personnel were deployed, while drones and CCTV cameras were used to monitor activities at the venue. The event also featured tableaux from 13 government departments and a ceremonial parade.
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said the government’s objective was to ensure equal rights for all citizens and provide timely solutions to their problems. He said the government had launched ‘Sahyog Shivirs’ to provide people with a platform to directly raise their grievances before the administration.
According to the Chief Minister, a 30-day deadline has been fixed for resolving public complaints. More than six lakh applications have been received so far, of which over 95 per cent have reportedly been resolved. He added that action was also being taken against officials found negligent in their duties. So far, 17,000 officials have been issued a first notice, while 860 have received a second notice.
Panchayat Development Day Every Month says the Chief Minister announced that the last Sunday of every month would be observed as ‘Panchayat Development Day’. Problems faced by people in rural areas would be highlighted and taken up for resolution. He said issues related to villages and development works would also be raised through the ‘Swaraj Portal’.
Choudhary also highlighted law and order and women’s safety as key priorities of his government. He said the 112 emergency service had helped improve the response time of police personnel. Women police personnel would be deployed around schools and colleges, he said, adding that women personnel would also carry out patrolling duties on scooters from Raksha Bandhan.
In his address, the Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s plans to attract investment, promote industries and create more employment opportunities in Bihar. He also spoke about initiatives related to solar energy and the development of new townships.
Choudhary said the government was committed to taking Bihar on a new path of development while making the administration more accountable, responsive and people-centric.
