Khagaria, Aug 12: Champaran Range DIG Har Kishore Rai and his security guard were injured after their official SUV collided with a buffalo on National Highway 31 in Bihar’s Khagaria district, police said on Wednesday.
The accident took place on Tuesday evening in the Mansi police station area, according to officials.Police said Rai was travelling back home after appearing as a witness before a court in Bhagalpur when a buffalo reportedly came onto the highway.
The vehicle struck the animal, resulting in significant damage to its front portion. Rai and his security guard sustained injuries in the collision.Rai was subsequently taken to a private hospital in Khagaria town, where he is undergoing treatment.
Khagaria Superintendent of Police Bhanu Pratap Singh said an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.Police are also examining CCTV recordings from cameras installed in the vicinity of the accident site to establish the sequence of events.
Further details regarding the condition of the injured officer and his security guard are awaited.
