Jamshedpur, November 27: The Loyola School Junior Section marked its 75th Annual Sports Day on Wednesday with a vibrant display of athletic spirit, drawing enthusiastic participation from students of Nursery to Standard 5.
The event, held at the Loyola School Ground, was attended by senior Jesuit leadership, including Rector Fr Michael T Raj SJ, Principal Fr Vinod Fernandes SJ, former Rector Fr K M Joseph SJ, former Principals Fr Pius Fernandes SJ and Fr Victor Misquith SJ, and Treasurer Fr Gerald D’Souza SJ. Other dignitaries present included Fr Francis Perumalil, Headmaster of Loyola Hindi School, Vice Principals Mrs Jayanti Sheshadri and Mrs Vineeta F. Ekka, along with members of the Loyola Alumni Association’s executive committee.
The ceremony opened with the unfurling of the Sports Day flag, the lighting of the sports flame, release of balloons and the administration of the sports oath. JULO, the school’s mascot, added a burst of energy to the morning’s proceedings, drawing cheers from students and parents.
A total of 38 athletic events were conducted across age groups. Multiple winners were recognised for their performances, with medals and trophies awarded to students for their achievements. Special honours went to Rachit Rai and Kritika Munda (Standard 3), Kabir Kaushal and Rida Parween (Standard 4), and Saharsh Prateek and Sasha Amber Reid (Standard 5), who were named Best Sportspersons of 2025 in their respective categories.
Jaguar House secured the overall championship title for the year, while Leopard House finished as runners-up.
The programme concluded with the lowering of the Sports Day flag, which was handed over to Junior Section Vice Principal Mrs Vineeta F. Ekka. Principal Fr Vinod Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks, followed by the rendition of the School Anthem, marking the close of the event.
