Ranchi, Nov 20: In a move aimed at assessing the real ground situation, Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has announced to frequently visit district hospitals and personally treat patients in their OPDs. The minister’s decision has quickly become a major topic of discussion in political and administrative circles.
Dr. Ansari has announced that he will visit the hospitals not as a minister, but as a doctor, so he can witness the real ground situation. According to him, working in the OPD will allow him to directly interact with people and take fast decisions to improve the state’s healthcare system.
The Health Minister made this announcement during a surprise inspection at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi. During the visit, he inspected the emergency ward, medicine department, diagnostic services, pharmacy, and overall sanitation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ansari also spoke with patients to assess the quality of services and reviewed the functioning of various units. After the inspection, he said he was satisfied with the services currently available at RIMS and noted that the hospital has improved significantly in the last few years.
However, he added that the government is committed to making public health services even stronger.
The minister stressed that every patient coming to a government hospital has the right to proper treatment, timely medicines, and respectful behaviour. He directed the hospital administration to maintain cleanliness, ensure availability of essential medicines at all times, and improve the system for addressing patient complaints.
Dr. Ansari reiterated that modernizing government hospitals, filling vacant medical posts, and expanding specialised services remain key priorities for the state government.
