Ranchi, November 13: In a major relief to former Ranchi Deputy Commissioner and IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan, the Jharkhand government has revoked his suspension following an order from the Supreme Court of India.
The Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha issued a notification on Wednesday stating that the suspension has been lifted with effect from October 14, 2025.
Ranjan, a 2011-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, was under investigation in a land scam case and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2023.
He remained in judicial custody for nearly 29 months. At the time of his arrest, he was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi.

During his custody, Ranjan had moved the Supreme Court seeking bail, which was granted recently. Following his release, he had applied to the state government for the revocation of his suspension.
After reviewing his request, the Jharkhand government decided to end his suspension, issuing an official order confirming the decision. The move comes as a significant relief for the senior bureaucrat, who had been suspended since his arrest in the alleged land scam case.
As per the order, the state government will take a separate call over allowances and service benefits for the period during which Ranjan remained under suspension.
