Jamshedpur, November 7: In a daring daylight burglary, unidentified thieves have looted gold and silver ornaments worth over ₹50 lakh and ₹15,000 in cash from a teacher’s flat in upscale housing complex of Vijaya Garden under Birsanagar police station.
The theft took place between 12:25 pm and 12:55 pm on Thursday at flat number 2483, owned by Nidhi Singh, a teacher at Valley View School, Telco.
As per Police, Nidhi had left home around 7 am after sending her children to school. When her daughter Anushka returned home at 1:25 pm, she found the main gate lock broken and cupboards ransacked. Meanwhile, all the valuables were also missing.

DSP City Sunil Chaudhary and a fingerprint team reached the spot soon after being informed. CCTV footage from the apartment complex shows two young men entering the building, inspecting locked flats, and later leaving the society on foot, one carrying a black bag.
Investigators suspect the duo used a gas cutter to break the main lock. Fingerprint experts have collected samples and seized the broken lock for forensic analysis.
Residents claim that the duo had also attempted to break into two other nearby flats (2411 and 2451), but both were empty. The incident has raised serious questions over the security inside the posh township of the STeel city.
Nidhi’s husband, who works in the Merchant Navy, is currently out of town. Police, on the other hand, have launched a manhunt based on CCTV footage to identify and nab the culprits.
