Jamshedpur, September 18: Team Samarthya, the Human Potential Centre of XLRI Jamshedpur, conducted the latest edition of its menstrual hygiene awareness initiative “Paakhi” at Kerala Public School in Kadma on Tuesday, engaging more than 120 adolescent girls.

Organised in collaboration with Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), the session aimed to break myths around menstruation and promote healthier practices among students aged 11 years and above.

Medical students from MTMC, including Ruhani and Anjan, led interactive workshops with support from four peers, while XLRI members Nehal, Samyak, Anshi and Anushtha coordinated the programme. The discussions covered hygiene, nutrition and emotional well-being, encouraging participants to ask questions in a safe setting.

“Through Paakhi, we want to normalize conversations around menstrual health and empower young girls with the knowledge and confidence to take care of their well-being,” said Ruhani, one of the facilitators.

Team Samarthya said the initiative sought to create a ripple effect by equipping young girls to influence peers, families and communities, adding that menstrual health should be viewed as a matter of dignity and empowerment rather than taboo.

Paakhi has become a recurring outreach activity in Jamshedpur schools, reflecting XLRI’s wider mission of fostering leadership with social responsibility.
