Six killed, four injured in separate mishaps in state

Ranchi, May 14: Six persons died in three separate road accidents in Jharkhand on Wednesday, while four others were seriously injured.

The first accident took place near Baihatu village on Chaibasa-Chakradharpur highway in West Singhbhum district. A small cargo vehicle rammed against a stationary truck on Tuesday night.

In this accident, three people, 35-year-old Seenu Purti, 36-year-old Ganga Jarika and 30-year-old Shivram Hembram died on the spot, while seriously injured 35-year-old Jagdish Hembram has been referred to Tata Main Hospital after primary treatment.

The collision was so strong that the van was mangled. Local people and police together pulled out the people trapped in the vehicle and sent them for treatment. Chaibasa Mufassil police station in-charge Chandrashekhar Kumar said that the doctor declared three people brought to the hospital dead. Post-mortem of their bodies is being done.

The second accident took place in Jawahar Valley on Ranchi-Patna Road in Barhi police station area of Hazaribagh district, where a SUV broke the railing of Jawahar bridge and fell into Tilaiya Dam.

Out of the four people riding on it, two persons somehow managed to get out of the vehicle and swim out, while two other people Rahul Sonkar and Ashish Kumar died. It was told that all these people were returning to Barhi after attending a wedding ceremony in Koderma. On receiving information about the accident, SDPO of Barhi reached the spot with the police team and got the SUV out of the dam with the help of a crane. Among the dead, the body of Rahul Sonkar has been taken out, while the search for Ashish’s body is going on.

In another incident, a person named Ashfaq Ansari died in a head-on collision between a bike and an auto near Pochra turn in Latehar Sadar police station area, while Waris Ansari was badly injured. He has been brought to RIMS Ranchi for treatment.
