April 29 — Activewear brand Rhone is offering free apparel to LPGA Tour players without existing sponsorship deals, aiming to address a lingering gap in support for women’s golf.
The initiative comes amid broader momentum in the women’s game, but persistent challenges remain for many athletes seeking sponsorships. In 2018, LPGA Hall of Famer Juli Inkster drew attention to the issue when she began her 35th season without any sponsorships — a situation that, even seven years later, still affects a number of players.
Partnering with the LPGA in 2024, Rhone is providing players access to its Course to Court collection, a line of performance-driven athletic wear. According to the brand, 25% of active LPGA athletes have taken up the offer so far.
“At Rhone, we are dedicated to championing and uplifting female athletes,” said Emma Crepeau, Chief Growth Officer at Rhone, in a statement. “Women’s sports continue to be underserved, and we’re committed to playing a role in changing that.”
Rhone currently serves as the full apparel sponsor for World No. 6 Lilia Vu and fourth-year LPGA cardholder Lauren Hartlage.
LPGA veteran Paula Reto, now in her 12th season, praised the effort. “It’s amazing to see that Rhone is recognizing the gap in women’s golf apparel sponsorships and is giving us the opportunity to wear their stylish clothes on the course,” Reto said.
The Course to Court collection features pieces such as the Sleeveless Polo, 14-inch Skort, 1/4 Zip Pullover, and a versatile dress — all designed with performance fabrics and UPF 50+ sun protection.
Rhone’s move comes as brands across the sportswear industry face growing pressure to invest more heavily in women’s athletics, amid rising viewership, prize money, and visibility for female sports.
