Ranchi, April 23 : Indian Railways has announced the cancellation and rescheduling of multiple trains connecting Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh due to ongoing development works in the Gorakhpur Cantt section and Chakradharpur Railway Division. The disruptions are set to begin from April 24, affecting several express services.
According to railway authorities, Train No. 18629 Ranchi–Gorakhpur Express will remain cancelled on April 25 and May 2. The return service, Train No. 18630 Gorakhpur–Ranchi Express, will be cancelled on April 26 and May 3. Similarly, Train No. 15028 Gorakhpur–Sambalpur Express will be cancelled from April 24 to May 3, while Train No. 15027 Sambalpur–Gorakhpur Express will not operate between April 26 and May 5.
In a partial cancellation, Train No. 15027 Sambalpur–Gorakhpur Maurya Express will depart from Hatia instead of Sambalpur on April 23. The section between Sambalpur and Hatia will remain non-operational on that date.
Further, due to non-interlocking work under the Chakradharpur Division, Train No. 12812 Hatia–Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Express will be delayed by three hours from Hatia on April 25.
In a separate development, the Indian Railways has announced that several trains will transition to LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, which are considered safer and more comfortable than conventional rakes. Train No. 13303/13304 Dhanbad–Ranchi–Dhanbad Express and Train No. 13320/13319 Ranchi–Dumka–Ranchi Express will be upgraded in late June.
From June 25, Dhanbad–Ranchi Express will operate with LHB coaches from Dhanbad, while its return service will adopt the new coaches from June 26. Ranchi–Dumka Express will switch to LHB coaches from June 25, and the Dumka–Ranchi service will follow on June 26.
The railway authorities have advised passengers to check schedules and plan accordingly due to these operational changes.
