Ranchi, Sept 30: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Tuesday discussed a range of issues affecting the state’s business and industrial sectors, including infrastructure, water supply, electricity, law and order, municipal services and industrial development.
The issues were discussed at the second meeting of the FJCCI Executive Committee for the 2026-27 session, chaired by Chamber president Tulsi Patel at the organisation’s office in Ranchi.Patel said the newly elected committee would focus on taking up business-related grievances with the concerned government departments and seeking time-bound solutions.
She said the Chamber had already initiated discussions on allowing three-wheeler goods carriers transporting essential commodities to operate during no-entry periods and on expediting the opening of Transport Nagar.
The Chamber also plans to raise issues concerning industrial development, MSMEs, railway infrastructure, logistics facilities, industrial clusters and investment, besides addressing region-specific problems, officials said.During the meeting, regional representatives highlighted several local concerns.
Amarjeet Singh Saluja raised the issue of water availability for industries in Giridih and referred to the proposed Bhalpahari Dam on the Barakar River. He said the project could support irrigation in parts of Giridih, Jamtara and Dhanbad and improve water availability for industries in the region.Kolhan region representative Vijay Anand Moonka raised concerns over the recent law-and-order situation in Jamshedpur.
He also sought intervention from the Urban Development Department over difficulties faced by owners of buildings without occupancy certificates in obtaining water and electricity connections.Palamu representative Amit Jaiswal highlighted problems linked to Khasmahal land and called for the development of a new industrial area in the district.
Damodar Kaser, representing the South Chotanagpur region, advocated setting up bauxite-based industries in Gumla and Lohardaga to generate employment. He also sought deployment of Junior Engineers in urban and rural areas of Gumla to improve response to electricity-related problems.The meeting also discussed the proposed Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on selected UPI merchant transactions above Rs 2,000.
The Chamber called for withdrawal of the proposed charge.FJCCI General Secretary Rohit Agrawal raised concerns over action related to trade licences during the festive season. He urged the municipal administration to avoid inspections, notices or penalties against traders until the licensing system is fully streamlined and clear instructions are issued to officials.
The Chamber also took up the issue of pending payments to six petrol pump operators in Sahibganj, Rajmahal and Pakur. The operators had reportedly supplied diesel during the 2019 Lok Sabha and 2024 Assembly elections, but payments for the supplies remain outstanding, according to the Chamber.
The Executive Committee approved nine applications for new Chamber membership during the meeting.It also decided to organise a state-level meeting of businessmen and entrepreneurs in Ranchi after Chhath Puja to discuss issues affecting the state’s commercial and industrial sectors.The committee further appointed executive member Vinita Singhania as FJCCI’s Public Relations Officer.
Several office-bearers, executive committee members, former office-bearers and representatives of local chambers, including Khunti, Gumla and Telo chambers, attended the meeting.
