Chatra, Feb 06 : Senior BJP leader and renowned social worker Bahori Singh, 67, was killed in a tragic road accident on Thursday morning near Pratappur Mor on the Chatra-Dobhi main road. The accident, which involved a hayva truck, has left his family, community, and political leaders in deep mourning.
Singh, a respected figure in the region, was a resident of Godobar village and was known for his unwavering commitment to public service. On the morning of the accident, Singh was following his daily routine of visiting the Devi Mandap temple near his home for worship. According to witnesses, the hayva truck struck him from behind, causing severe injuries.
“Bahori Singh was immediately taken to the hospital,” police officials confirmed. “Due to the severity of his injuries and profuse bleeding, he was referred to a better-equipped hospital in Gaya, Bihar. Unfortunately, upon arrival, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.”
The driver of the hayva truck fled the scene with the vehicle after the collision, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The Pratappur police have launched a search operation to locate and apprehend the driver. “Efforts are underway to track down the driver and bring him to justice,” an official from the local police station stated.
The sudden and untimely demise of Bahori Singh has led to an outpouring of grief from political and social circles. Former Labour Minister Satyanand Bhogta expressed his condolences, describing Singh’s death as a significant loss to the BJP and the local community. “Singh was a dedicated social worker and leader who tirelessly served the people. His absence will be deeply felt,” Bhogta said, reflecting on Singh’s contributions to the region.
Singh’s family, still grappling with the tragedy, expressed their shock and disbelief. “Like every day, he was going to worship near the Devi Mandap. We are shocked that such an unexpected accident took him away from us,” a family member said, highlighting his routine and dedication to spiritual practices.
The accident has also sparked concerns over road safety in the region. Pratappur Mor, a busy junction on the Chatra-Dobhi main road, is frequently used by heavy vehicles, raising questions about the enforcement of traffic laws and the safety measures in place. Local residents have called for stricter monitoring and better safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies.
Singh’s life and legacy as a social worker have left an indelible mark on the community he served. His commitment to helping others and his leadership within the BJP made him a highly respected figure in Chatra and beyond.
The police investigation into the accident is ongoing, and further updates are expected as authorities work to piece together the events leading to the collision. For now, the sudden and tragic loss of Bahori Singh has created a void that will be hard to fill, leaving his family, supporters, and the community in profound grief.
