Ranchi, Sept 28: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday held discussions with RMZ Infrastructure President Deepak Chhabria on developing an advanced IT Park in Ranchi and attracting investment in emerging technology sectors.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s residential office on Kanke Road, focused on creating a technology ecosystem covering information technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, manufacturing, nuclear energy and digital infrastructure.
As part of the proposed plan, the government is working towards starting an IT Park in Ranchi by 2029. The first phase is expected to generate around 20,000 employment opportunities, with the capacity targeted to increase to nearly 75,000 opportunities over the subsequent three years, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.
The government is also examining around 100 acres of land in the vicinity of IIM Ranchi, the new Assembly complex and the High Court complex as a potential location for the proposed development.
The planned IT Park is envisioned as a modern facility with digital infrastructure and other amenities required by global technology companies and institutions. The initiative is aimed at strengthening Ranchi’s position as a centre for IT, innovation and high-skilled employment.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of setting up Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Jharkhand. Such centres could undertake specialised technology and business functions for global companies, including activities related to IT, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and other high-skill sectors.
Soren said the state government was working to build a modern technology and industrial ecosystem while attracting investment and creating better employment opportunities for local youth.
He also emphasised collaboration with industry to develop Ranchi as a centre for emerging technologies and innovation.As part of the process, an Information Technology and e-Governance Department delegation is likely to visit Bengaluru in October to study established IT Parks, technology ecosystems and GCC models.
The visit will also examine infrastructure, investment mechanisms and facilities available to technology companies, the CMO said.
The findings of the study are expected to assist the state government in preparing a roadmap for the proposed IT Park and related technology ecosystem.
RMZ Infrastructure expressed interest in exploring opportunities related to IT Park development, digital infrastructure and emerging technology sectors in Jharkhand, according to the CMO.
Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, IT and e-Governance Department Secretary Pooja Singhal and Jharkhand Space Applications Centre Director Madhavi Mishra were also present at the meeting.
