Ranchi, Sept 27: The Hatia Mazdoor Union, affiliated with the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), has announced a phased agitation over various pending issues concerning permanent and supply workers of Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the union’s executive committee, where members discussed issues related to promotions, Provident Fund restrictions, loans, payments and implementation of workers’ agreements.
According to the union, several permanent employees are awaiting promotions, while restrictions on PF-related withdrawals and access to eligible loans have created difficulties for workers. The union has demanded that these restrictions be removed.The union also raised concerns over the conditions of supply workers.
It sought resolution of issues related to gradation and payment of pending Dearness Allowance (DA), besides implementation of provisions concerning Earned Leave (EL), Casual Leave (CL) and bonus under tripartite and bipartite agreements.
The union alleged that the HEC management had failed to fully implement an agreement reached in 2010. It also questioned the validity of certain signatures allegedly obtained in connection with the agreement, saying that only authorised representatives have the right to enter into or modify such settlements.
The union said it would pursue the matter through appropriate means and urged workers to remain united.It also appealed to permanent and supply workers not to allow differences between the two groups to weaken their collective demands.
The union said its members would conduct outreach programmes across HEC’s different shops and units to mobilise workers over issues including bonus, promotion, gradation and DA.
The Hatia Mazdoor Union further appealed to other trade unions and supply-worker representatives to join its proposed movement.Union president Bhawan Singh said the organisation would soon begin its phased agitation and called upon workers to prepare for the campaign.
