Giridih, Sept 25: A 24-year-old man, whose father is a Jharkhand Police sub-inspector, was allegedly killed following an altercation between two groups in Giridih late Thursday night, police said.The deceased, identified as Ritik Yadav, was a resident of Rajendra Nagar.
He had reportedly gone out with two friends to eat noodles when the incident took place in the Bandarkupi area at around 11 pm.According to police, an argument broke out between Ritik and another group, following which he was allegedly attacked with sticks and other weapons.
Police said Ritik sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at the spot. His body was subsequently sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination.
Giridih Sadar SDPO Jeetwahan Oraon said police reached the location after receiving information about the incident. Some people suspected of involvement have been detained and questioned as part of the investigation.
A friend who was with Ritik during the incident was also injured. He alleged that a group of around eight people attacked them and that Ritik was struck on the head with lathis and rods.A local ward commissioner, Rita Chaurasiya, claimed that Ritik was acquainted with some of the suspected attackers and that an argument had started at the food establishment.
She further alleged that when one of his friends attempted to take Ritik away on a motorcycle, the attackers followed them.Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the altercation, the identity and role of those involved, and the motive behind the attack.
Ritik’s father, Musafir Singh, is a sub-inspector posted in Bokaro. He said his son had cleared the Home Guard examination and was waiting for information regarding his training before joining.
The investigation is underway, and the allegations against the suspects are yet to be established through due legal process.
