Jamshedpur, Sept 24: Four people, including the daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, were killed in a road accident in Jamshedpur early Thursday, police said.The accident occurred near Domuhani Marine Drive under Sonari police station limits on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur National Highway.
According to police, the car carrying the four occupants collided with a truck that was parked along the road. The impact left the occupants trapped inside the vehicle.Police personnel and local residents reached the spot and used a gas cutter to open the badly damaged car.
The four victims were subsequently taken to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.The deceased included Trisha Singh, daughter of state Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh.
The identities of the other three victims were not immediately available.News of the accident prompted condolences from political leaders across the state.Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed grief over the deaths and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He said the loss of a child causes deep pain to parents and families.
Jharkhand Health Minister and Congress leader Irfan Ansari also expressed condolences to the minister and her family following the death of her daughter.
Gandey MLA Kalpana Murmu Soren expressed sympathy with the bereaved families, saying the loss of a child is difficult to express in words.Jharkhand Assembly Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi also mourned the deaths and extended condolences to the affected families.
Police have taken up the matter for further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
