Banka, Bihar, Sep 24 : The Excise Department has seized a Swift Dzire car allegedly carrying liquor in Sahabganj market area of Belhar in Bihar’s Banka district, officials said.
According to excise officials, the department had received information that liquor was being transported from Jharkhand in a car. Acting on the tip-off, a team kept watch on the suspected vehicle and followed it before intercepting it near Sahabganj market.
A search of the car led to the recovery of foreign liquor, following which the vehicle and the seized liquor were taken into custody by the excise team.
The action drew a crowd at Sahabganj market as officials conducted the search and seizure operation.
Officials said the exact quantity and value of the recovered liquor are being ascertained. Further details related to the seizure are also being collected.
The Excise Department has initiated further legal proceedings in connection with the case.
