Ranchi, Sep 22: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) has urged the state government to make Transport Nagar operational at the earliest and bring clarity to its allocation process, citing difficulties faced by transporters.
FJCCI president Tulsi Patel discussed the matter with Departmental Secretary Rajiv Ranjan over the phone on Tuesday and apprised him of the problems being faced by transporters and the current status of Transport Nagar.
The Chamber said the facility was developed with the objective of streamlining transportation and goods-vehicle-related activities in Ranchi. However, its non-operational status has prevented transporters from getting the expected benefits.
“The objective behind developing Transport Nagar was to streamline transportation and activities related to goods vehicles in the city,” Patel said.
The Chamber also raised concerns over the lack of clear information regarding the allocation process and related procedures, saying it had created confusion among transporters.
“The uncertainty surrounding the allocation process should be resolved and a clear system should be established,” Patel said.
He stressed the need to operationalise the facility at the earliest in the interest of Ranchi’s transport business community.
“Making Transport Nagar operational at the earliest is necessary in the interest of people associated with Ranchi’s transport business,” he said.
The Chamber said it would soon meet the departmental secretary for a detailed discussion on the issue and seek measures to resolve the problems faced by transporters.

Patel had also spoken to the Chief Secretary on Monday regarding the transporters’ concerns.
A meeting on the issue was subsequently held at Chamber Bhawan, attended by senior FJCCI office-bearers and members.
