Ranchi, Sep 20: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has urged the Congress leadership to take action against former state minister and Congress leader Yogendra Saw over his recent public remarks targeting Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
JMM central spokesperson Manoj Pandey said the party has taken serious objection to Saw’s comments and sought intervention from the Congress leadership. He said the matter had been brought to the attention of Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge K Raju.
According to reports, Saw recently criticised Soren and described him in strongly worded terms, while alleging that government officials were being made scapegoats during administrative or political crises.
He also alleged that Jharkhand’s natural resources, referred to as jal, jungle aur zameen, were being handed over to corporate interests.
These statements are Saw’s political allegations and have not been independently established.Saw also reportedly appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to withdraw support from the Hemant Soren-led government and said he would continue to raise issues he considered important.
Pandey said Congress and JMM are alliance partners in the Jharkhand government and argued that public statements of this nature could create friction between the coalition partners.
He called for appropriate disciplinary action against Saw.Congress leader and state minister Irfan Ansari also criticised Saw’s remarks, saying that such statements were inappropriate and that party leaders should stand with the coalition government rather than make unrestrained public comments.
The latest controversy comes several months after Saw faced disciplinary action from the Congress over his criticism of Soren.
In March 2026, the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee had expelled him from the party for three years. However, the state Congress unit revoked that expulsion in June and allowed him to return to the organisation.
