Ranchi, Sept 15: The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two more persons in separate cases involving alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations, officials said on Tuesday.One of those arrested has been identified as Dilip Kumar Paswan, 41, from Jamui district of Bihar.
Investigators allege that he facilitated unfair assistance to several candidates who appeared in the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination-2023.With Paswan’s arrest, the number of people apprehended by the CID in connection with the alleged JSSC-CGL examination irregularities has risen to 13.
In a separate case linked to recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), the CID arrested Sanjit Kumar, a Ranchi-based coaching centre operator.
Officials said Kumar, who runs Shivangan Coaching in Ranchi, allegedly acted as an intermediary in the case. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.The CID has so far arrested more than 20 people in the broader JPSC-related investigation. The accused include former JPSC chairman L Khiangte, who was arrested on August 10.
The alleged examination irregularities had triggered protests by job aspirants from July 25.
The protesters had sought cancellation of the examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC and demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Amid the protests, the state government announced on August 18 that several recruitment examinations, including the JSSC-CGL 2023 examination, would be cancelled.
The agitation was subsequently withdrawn.The cancellation decision, however, was challenged before the Jharkhand High Court by candidates who had successfully cleared the examinations.
The High Court later stayed the government’s decision, providing temporary relief to the affected candidates.The CID investigation into the alleged irregularities is continuing, while the legal dispute over the cancellation of the examinations remains before the High Court.
