Ranchi, September 8: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) member Dr Asha Lakra on Tuesday visited the headquarters of Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) in Ranchi and reviewed the implementation of constitutional safeguards for Scheduled Tribe employees.
Lakra held a meeting with senior CMPDI management and discussed a range of issues concerning employees from the Scheduled Tribe community, including recruitment, promotions, reservation, training and welfare-related measures.
During the review, she sought information on the status of various matters and emphasised the need for effective implementation of provisions intended to protect the interests of ST employees.
The meeting was attended by CMPDI Chairman-cum-Managing Director Chaudhari Shivraj Singh, Director (Technical/P&D) Ajay Kumar, Director (Technical/CRD) Nripendra Nath, General Manager (Human Resources) Sanjay Kadambar and Liaison Officer (Scheduled Tribe) Mamta Toppo, besides other senior officials and representatives of the NCST.
Lakra also interacted with representatives of the All India SC/ST/OBC Coordination Council and the Coal India SC-ST Employees Association (CISTEA).
The representatives placed their grievances and demands before her, following which she discussed the issues raised during the interaction.Later, Lakra visited the Earth Science Museum at CMPDI headquarters.
She took an interest in the exhibits and was briefed on CMPDI’s technical activities and the broader operations of the coal industry.The visit was part of the NCST’s efforts to review the implementation of safeguards and address issues concerning members of the Scheduled Tribe community in organisations associated with the public sector.
