Giridih, September 6: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday attended the funeral of state minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu in Giridih and paid his final respects to the deceased leader.Soren visited Sonu’s residence in Harsinghraiyadih, where he placed a wreath on the mortal remains and met members of the bereaved family.
He expressed condolences and prayed for strength for the family during the difficult period.The Chief Minister later joined the funeral procession and carried the mortal remains to the cremation ground.
The last rites were performed with state honours in the presence of government officials, political leaders, public representatives and a large gathering of local residents.
Speaking to reporters, Soren said Sonu’s sudden death following a heart attack had come as a deep shock to the government and the people of Jharkhand.He recalled Sonu’s active involvement in political and social activities and said the minister had contributed to development-related work with seriousness and commitment.
Soren described the death as a major loss for Jharkhand, saying the state had lost a dedicated public representative and a young leader. He also assured the bereaved family of continued support from the state government.MLA Kalpana Soren also paid tribute to the deceased minister and met his family members.
The funeral was attended by several members of the state cabinet, MLAs, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, senior government officials, district administration representatives and other public representatives.
A large number of residents, supporters and well-wishers gathered in Giridih to bid a final farewell to the minister.
