Ranchi, September 4: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday participated in Janmashtami celebrations at Morabadi Maidan in Ranchi and inaugurated a Dahi Handi competition organised as part of the festivities.
The programme was organised by the Shri Krishna Janmotsav Organising Committee, which brought together devotees and participants to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
Addressing the gathering, Soren extended his greetings to the people of Jharkhand and wished them happiness, prosperity and progress. He said festivals such as Janmashtami provide an opportunity for people to come together and strengthen the spirit of social harmony.
The Chief Minister highlighted the relevance of Lord Krishna’s teachings, saying they encourage people to uphold truth, righteousness, compassion, love and a sense of duty.
He also said the festival conveys a message of brotherhood, mutual cooperation and harmony, and expressed hope that these values would become stronger in society.
Soren inaugurated the Dahi Handi competition and felicitated participants associated with the celebrations. A large number of devotees attended the programme at Morabadi Maidan.
The Chief Minister also expressed his wishes for peace, prosperity and development in Jharkhand, hoping that the state would continue to move ahead on the path of progress.
Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, MLA Suresh Kumar Baitha, former state Congress president Rajesh Thakur and Shri Krishna Janmotsav Organising Committee patron Rajiv Ranjan Prasad were among those present at the event.
