Man shot dead in Hussainabad area of Palamu, police launch investigation

Palamu, September 3: A 32-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers after he stopped his car to attend a phone call in Palamu district of Jharkhand, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at around 9 pm on Wednesday in the Hussainabad area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Hussainabad Police Station.The deceased was identified as Om Prakash Singh, a resident of Shivshakti Nagar.

According to police, Singh had stopped his car by the roadside and was speaking on the phone when the attackers approached him on a motorcycle and opened fire.

Local residents said two rounds were fired during the incident. Singh was reportedly attempting to open the vehicle door when he was attacked.

People in the area rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Hussainabad Police Station in-charge Chandan Kumar said an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.”Efforts are underway to identify the attackers and ascertain the motive behind the incident,” the officer said.

Police are examining available information and gathering evidence to establish the sequence of events. The identities of the suspects and the motive for the killing have not yet been confirmed.Further investigation is underway.
