New Delhi, Sept 1 : People in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and several other states are unlikely to get relief from rain over the next 36 hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is likely in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Eastern Madhya Pradesh may receive rain from September 2 to 4, while western Madhya Pradesh is likely to see rainfall from September 3 to 5.
Rain and Gusty Winds Expected in Several Areas
According to the weather forecast, heavy rainfall is likely in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on September 2. Rain is also expected over Delhi, Haryana and Punjab on Wednesday. Odisha and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may witness thunderstorms accompanied by rain.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive rainfall from September 2 to 5. Rain is also expected in Gujarat, Konkan, Maharashtra, Marathwada and Goa. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana have also been placed under a rain alert. Gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph may occur during this period.
Yellow Alert Issued for Himachal Pradesh
The Shimla Meteorological Centre issued a yellow alert on Tuesday, warning of heavy rainfall in parts of Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur districts until September 3. Officials said several areas received light to heavy rainfall during the 24 hours from Monday evening, while thunderstorms and lightning were reported in Kangra, Jot, Murari Devi and Sundernagar.
Flash Flood Warning for 10 Jharkhand Districts
The weather department has issued a flash flood warning for 10 districts of Jharkhand after heavy rainfall was recorded in several parts of the state on Tuesday. According to the IMD, the warning has been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Simdega until Wednesday morning.
The weather department has forecast cloudy conditions and heavy rainfall across Jharkhand until September 5. A red alert for very heavy rainfall has been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, Simdega and West Singhbhum, while an orange alert has been issued for Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti and Seraikela-Kharsawan until Wednesday morning.
Heavy rainfall is likely in the northwestern districts of Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra and Latehar on Wednesday. Similar weather conditions may continue in several parts of the state on Thursday and Friday as well.
