Ranchi, September 1: The newly constituted Jharkhand State Allied and Healthcare Council has initiated steps to establish a uniform regulatory framework for allied healthcare education, address pending examinations and strengthen the training of healthcare personnel across the state.
At its first meeting, the council discussed measures related to the affiliation and regulation of institutions offering allied healthcare programmes, student examinations, professional registration and the development of a dedicated digital platform.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Ajay Kumar Singh. Senior health officials and members of the council were also present.Under the proposed framework, the council will oversee diploma and other allied healthcare programmes and regulate institutions offering such courses.
It will also facilitate the registration of students after completion of their courses, creating a more structured system for educational institutions and trained professionals.
A major issue discussed during the meeting was the conduct of examinations for students belonging to transition batches. The council also reviewed cases involving courses for which final examinations had not been held earlier.
Officials said that matters requiring policy-level decisions would be taken up with the state government and, where necessary, placed before the cabinet.The council also approved steps towards creating essential administrative posts and developing a dedicated online portal.
The proposed portal is expected to provide information and services related to institutional affiliation, academic programmes, examinations and professional registration.
Singh suggested the introduction of a six-month special training programme for existing healthcare workers, including Sahiyas and Multi-Purpose Workers. The proposed initiative is aimed at improving the skills of personnel already working in the healthcare system and expanding the availability of trained manpower.
The meeting further reviewed unresolved issues connected with earlier regulatory arrangements, including the transfer of assets and liabilities, staffing requirements and procedures for regulating institutions and academic programmes.
Officials said the establishment of the Jharkhand State Allied and Healthcare Council is intended to bring greater transparency, consistency and accountability to allied healthcare education and professional services in the state.
The new regulatory mechanism is also expected to help strengthen the healthcare workforce by improving educational standards, resolving pending academic issues and creating a more organised system for training and registration.
