Ranchi, Aug 25: The supply of Custom Milled Rice (CMR) procured against paddy purchased across all 24 districts of Jharkhand has reached the final stage, with the state receiving 99.94 per cent of the targeted quantity, according to data from the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department.
The state had procured a total of 49,25,005.36 quintals of paddy, against which rice millers were required to return 33,63,143.27 quintals of CMR.
As per departmental figures up to August 19, the government has received 33,58,576.28 quintals of CMR, achieving 99.94 per cent of the prescribed target.
CMR refers to rice produced by milling paddy purchased from farmers by the government at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
23 districts complete CMR supply
Of the state’s 24 districts, 23 have supplied 100 per cent of their respective CMR quota to the state government. Garhwa is the only district where the supply is yet to reach the full target.Garhwa had procured 4,34,709.86 quintals of paddy, against which 2,97,365.57 quintals of CMR was due from rice mills. By August 19, the district had supplied 2,92,731.33 quintals, or 98.44 per cent, leaving around 4,634 quintals still to be supplied.
The department has directed the District Supply Officer in Garhwa to ensure that the concerned rice mills complete the remaining CMR supply at the earliest.
With only a small quantity pending, the state is now close to completing the CMR supply process for the latest paddy procurement cycle.
