Jharkhand Protests: FIRs against 214 over August 21 clash with police in Ranchi

RANCHI, August 22 : Ranchi Police have registered three FIRs against more than 200 people in connection with the clash between police and job aspirants during a protest in the city on August 21, officials said on Saturday.

According to Ranchi City SP Paras Rana, the FIRs were registered at Kotwali police station against 14 named accused and more than 200 unidentified persons.

The cases relate to the confrontation between police and protesting job aspirants during demonstrations over alleged irregularities in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment examinations.

The accused have been booked for allegedly obstructing government work and clashing with police, officials said.Among those named in the FIRs are Kunal Pratap Singh, Piyush Kumar and Ravindra Paswan, who have been associated with protests over alleged irregularities in the JPSC-JSSC recruitment process.

The August 21 demonstration had turned tense after police intervened during the protest, leading to a confrontation between security personnel and protesters.

The latest FIRs come amid heightened tensions in Jharkhand over recruitment examinations. Student groups have been demanding transparency and corrective action over alleged irregularities, while the state government’s decisions concerning the examinations have triggered protests and legal challenges.

Opposition parties have also stepped up their criticism of the Hemant Soren-led government, with BJP leaders demanding a CBI probe into the recruitment process

.Police said further investigation into the cases is underway.
