Patna, Aug 17: Three BJP functionaries from Bihar — Rajya Sabha member Shivesh Kumar Ram, Rituraj Sinha and Siddharth Shambhu — have been given key responsibilities in the party’s newly announced national team, in a move that has enhanced the state’s representation in the BJP’s central organisation.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin announced the new team on Monday. Shivesh Kumar Ram has been appointed national president of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, Rituraj Sinha has been named co-convener of all party cells, while Siddharth Shambhu will serve as a national secretary.

However, no leader from Bihar has been appointed national vice-president or national general secretary in the new organisational setup.

BJP MLC Sanjay Mayukh has also been relieved of his responsibility as national co-media in charge.

Shivesh, a native of Bhojpur district, has held several organisational positions in the BJP over the years. Although he lost the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the party has now entrusted him with the responsibility of leading its Scheduled Caste Morcha at the national level.

Rituraj Sinha, son of former Rajya Sabha MP R K Sinha, is regarded as an organisation-oriented leader and has served the party in various capacities.

The BJP’s new national team comprises 13 vice-presidents, eight general secretaries and 16 secretaries.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers and expressed confidence in their ability to strengthen the organisation.

“I am fully confident that, through your experience, dedication and organisational acumen, you all will play a pivotal role in further strengthening the party and taking the resolve of serving the nation to new heights,” Choudhary said.

Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi also congratulated the leaders and said the state had been given significant responsibilities in the party’s national organisation.

Saraogi described the reappointment of Vinod Tawde, the BJP’s Bihar in-charge, as national general secretary as “a matter of pride for Bihar BJP”.

He said the representation of women and young leaders in the new team reflected the BJP’s “worker-centric and forward-looking approach”.

Saraogi also said young leaders would play an important role in taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” to the masses.

The latest appointments are expected to give Bihar leaders a greater role in the BJP’s national organisational activities while reinforcing the party’s emphasis on organisational experience, youth and social outreach.
