Patna, Aug 14: Bihar has recorded a decline in several major crime categories, including murder, robbery and riot-related cases, the state Home Department said on Friday, attributing the trend to improved intelligence gathering and prompt police action.The figures were shared during a press briefing addressed by Home Department Secretary Pranav Kumar and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar.According to the department, murder cases have declined by 10.1 per cent compared with the previous year.
Robbery cases registered a sharper fall of 31.32 per cent, while cases related to riots dropped by 18.97 per cent.The department said law enforcement agencies have strengthened intelligence collection and response mechanisms to prevent crimes and maintain public order.It also highlighted the reduction in communal tension-related incidents, saying timely information gathering and immediate police intervention had helped prevent such situations from escalating.
The Home Department reiterated that the state follows a zero-tolerance policy towards communalism and that authorities take action whenever information about a potential communal incident is received.The department also cited the elimination of Naxal-affected districts from Bihar as another major development in the state’s security landscape.
Alongside conventional crimes, authorities said greater attention is being given to economic offences and cybercrime, reflecting the growing challenges posed by financial and digital crimes.Officials said continued policing, intelligence-based action and faster responses would remain central to efforts aimed at improving law and order and creating a safer environment for residents.
