New Delhi, August 8 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared glimpses of the 57th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, congratulating the graduating students as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
Sharing a series of posts on social media, the Prime Minister said he was delighted to attend the convocation and interact with the graduating students. He recalled his virtual participation in an IIT Delhi convocation during the COVID-19 pandemic and said being present on campus in person made the occasion particularly special.
Modi congratulated the graduates and urged them to dream big, embrace challenges and contribute to the building of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Recalling the journey of students from their orientation to convocation, the Prime Minister highlighted the memories created through hostel life, friendships, teachers and campus experiences. He also urged the graduates to remain connected with their institute and remember the teachers, mentors, friends and support staff who contributed to their journey.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for young people to continuously adapt as technology rapidly transforms industries, professions and everyday life.
“Challenges will come, but those who have the courage to find new solutions can turn every challenge into an opportunity,” Modi said.
Drawing a distinction between academic examinations and real-life challenges, he told the students that while examinations have a syllabus, life does not. He said young people must be prepared to face situations and challenges that may fall outside what they have planned.
Modi also highlighted the responsibility of India’s youth in the country’s development, saying their role would be crucial in achieving economic and technological self-reliance and strengthening India’s industrial capabilities.
He said the aspirations of today’s young generation extend to creating new technologies and products, including rockets, semiconductor chips and drones, which could become milestones remembered by future generations.
The Prime Minister urged the graduating students to use their knowledge and capabilities to contribute to India’s technological progress and the broader vision of a developed India.
