Patna, Aug. 7: A video circulating on social media claiming to show Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoj Tiwari crying after the party’s defeat in the Bankipur Assembly by-election in Bihar has been found to be misleading.The viral clip surfaced after Jan Suraaj Party candidate Prashant Kishor won the Bankipur bypoll, defeating BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha.
Social media users shared the video with claims that it captured Tiwari’s reaction to the election outcome.However, verification shows that the footage predates the by-election by several years and is unrelated to the recent political developments in Bihar.A review of the video reveals that it is taken from an interview recorded during the 2020 Delhi Assembly election campaign.
The original interview was published in January 2020 and features Manoj Tiwari speaking about his personal journey and early struggles. During the conversation, he became emotional while recalling experiences from his life.
The portion now circulating online appears to have been edited from the longer interview and presented without its original context, creating the false impression that it was recorded after the Bankipur bypoll results.
A search of publicly available reports and official statements found no credible evidence indicating that Manoj Tiwari reacted emotionally to Prashant Kishor’s victory or the BJP’s defeat in the Bankipur Assembly by-election.
