Ranchi, Aug. 5: The Election Department will publish Jharkhand’s draft electoral roll under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) on Wednesday, with the process for filing claims and objections set to begin on Thursday and continue until September 4.
Alongside the draft voter list, the ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate) list will also be released in both online and offline modes. Both lists will be made available for public inspection across all Assembly constituencies in the state.
According to the enumeration phase of the revision exercise, the draft electoral roll includes 2,20,94,859 voters, while 43,68,377 names have been deleted from the previous electoral roll. Election authorities, however, said the updated figures would be released along with the publication of the draft roll on Wednesday.
Eligible voters whose names are missing from the draft list will be able to apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with the prescribed supporting documents during the claims and objections period.
Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said the electoral roll prepared through the Special Intensive Revision would remain a permanent record and continue to serve as an important reference in future electoral processes.
“The voter list generated through the Special Intensive Revision programme is preserved as a permanent record,” Kumar said, urging all eligible Indian citizens to participate in the ongoing revision exercise and ensure their names are included in the electoral roll.
He appealed to voters to personally verify their names and other details in the published draft list and encouraged them to use the ECINET application to check voter information, submit Form 6 and access other voter-related services.
“Every voter should personally verify their name and details in the published draft electoral roll,” the Chief Electoral Officer said, adding that citizens should also motivate their family members, neighbours, friends and colleagues to verify their entries and rectify any errors.
To promote voter enrolment, the Election Department will organise a #NewVoters campaign from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, involving educational institutions, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), volunteers, BLA-2 representatives of recognised political parties and other stakeholders to encourage eligible citizens, particularly first-time voters, to register themselves.
