RANCHI, Aug. 3: Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Monday levelled serious allegations of large-scale irregularities in recruitment conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), claiming that government jobs were “openly sold” and demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the entire recruitment process.
In a post on social media platform X, Marandi called for the immediate dismissal of the Chairman, Controller of Examinations and Secretary of both JPSC and JSSC. He also sought registration of FIRs against the officials concerned and their immediate arrest.
“Jobs were openly sold through JPSC and JSSC,” Marandi alleged, adding that “the entire recruitment scam should be investigated by the CBI.”
The BJP leader further alleged that brokers took candidates to Nepal, Bihar and West Bengal, where they were made to memorise 135 to 150 questions, nearly 120 of which allegedly appeared in the recruitment examinations.

Marandi also alleged that internet services were shut down at examination centres to facilitate the alleged malpractice and claimed that the results of the recruitment process for around 26,000 teachers were released in phases instead of simultaneously due to alleged financial dealings.
He further alleged that the initial investigation by CID officers Sandhya Rani and Nidhi Pandey was progressing in the right direction before the investigation team was changed.
“The government changed the investigation team to suppress the truth,” Marandi alleged.
He also claimed that Manoj Kaushik was appointed as Additional Director General (ADG) of the CID to influence the investigation and alleged that pending allegations against the officer had been overlooked.
Appealing for public support to the ongoing student protests over alleged recruitment irregularities, Marandi said, “This is a fight to save the future of Jharkhand,” and urged people to support the movement “with all their heart, mind and money.”
Meanwhile, BJP state chief spokesperson Pratul Shahdev alleged that recruitment examinations conducted during the tenure of the present state government had become synonymous with “distrust, corruption and rigging.”
“The CBI should investigate all competitive examinations conducted during the present government’s tenure,” Shahdev said, while questioning why former JPSC Chairman L. Khyangte had not been arrested despite alleged evidence against him.
“CID should stop playing friendly matches and arrest former JPSC Chairman L. Khyangte,” he added.
The allegations come amid ongoing protests by competitive examination aspirants in Ranchi seeking transparency in JPSC and JSSC recruitment processes.
The allegations made by Marandi and other BJP leaders are political claims and have not been independently verified. No immediate response was available from the Jharkhand government, JPSC, JSSC or the CID on the allegations at the time of filing this report.
