Ranchi, Aug. 1: The Jharkhand government has approved a series of major road infrastructure projects, including new flyovers, elevated corridors and a six-lane road in Ranchi, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity across the state.The proposed projects will cover Ranchi, Bokaro, Giridih and Pakur districts.
The Road Construction Department has been directed to begin the implementation process, with work on the approved schemes expected to commence within the next six months.The largest project in Ranchi is a proposed elevated road and flyover corridor from Argora Chowk through Harmu to Dibdih Bridge. The 3.804-km project has an estimated cost of ₹469.62 crore.
Connecting stretches and service roads are also planned towards Kathal Mor in the Chaputoli area and Ashok Nagar.Another major project involves the construction of a 3.216-km flyover between Karamtoli and Science City at an estimated cost of about ₹351.14 crore.
The government has also approved a six-lane road connecting Vivekanand School Mor, the Ring Road, the Jharkhand High Court and the Vidhan Sabha. The project includes the widening of the link road from Naya Sarai Road Overbridge to the Ring Road and is estimated to cost around ₹301.12 crore.
A new road from Ashirwad Banquet to the Firing Range area in Bariatu has also been proposed at an estimated cost of ₹141.24 crore.In addition, the Birsa Chowk–Dhurwa Golchakkar–Project Building–Chandni Chowk route will undergo widening, strengthening and reconstruction. The stretch between Dhurwa Golchakkar and the Police Headquarters is expected to receive special attention under the plan.Outside Ranchi, the government has approved the widening and strengthening of the Jaina Mor–Phusro road in Bokaro.
The project will include a two-lane carriageway with paved shoulders.In Giridih, the Giridih–Jamua road is proposed to be widened and reconstructed with two lanes and paved shoulders.Road development works have also been planned in Pakur, including the reconstruction of the Talwa–Kharutola road and the Chandana–Sridharpada link road. A new road connecting Gopladih and Bhognadih is also proposed.
The projects are expected to improve traffic movement, reduce travel time and strengthen connectivity between urban, industrial and rural areas. The new flyovers and elevated corridors in Ranchi are expected to ease congestion on some of the city’s busiest routes.
The government has set a target to initiate the projects promptly and complete them within the prescribed timeframe. The proposed infrastructure expansion is also expected to support trade, tourism and economic activity in the affected regions.
